Anyone who knows me, knows that I love nutcrackers.  I have loved them ever since I went to see Ballet West’s version of The Nutcracker when I was eight years old.  My Aunt Cyndy took me for my first time and then again when I was ten.  I have loved that ballet ever since. 

I have been privileged to see the ballet many times over my lifetime.  In the past my Grandmother paid for me, my mom, my girls, my aunts and my cousins to go and see The Nutcracker.  Unfortunately we live too far away to go with them now. 

I feared that I might never see The Nutcracker again, you see my dear husband however hates The Nutcracker, and ballet in general, so I knew he wouldn’t take me.  I was thinking that maybe one of these years I would have to take the girls myself and go.  I had just been thinking about all of these things when a few days before my birthday, my sister Maria came over.  She told me that she was going to take me to The Nutcracker as my birthday present.  I was SO excited!  Especially because Maria, like my husband, hates The Nutcracker!  The fact that she was willing to take me was an even better gift than going to the ballet itself. 

We went last night and had a marvelous time!  I loved Ballet Austin’s version of The Nutcracker.  The way they did the ending was the best I’ve ever seen!  It was great!  Thanks Maria for a wonderful birthday present!  You are an amazing sister!
